Almas Pite (Hungarian Slab Apple Pie)

This is best served warm. My husband’s grandmother gave us two different recipes for her Hungarian Apple Pie. This is the first. I will try the other recipe and will post it as well 🙂 

  • 40 dkg flour (400 grams)
  • 1 egg
  • 15 dkg margarine (150 grams)
  • 2 dkg yeast (20 grams)
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • enough milk

Apple Filling (mix all well):

  • 1 kg apple, grated
  • sugar, cinnamon
  • Mix all and knead, let rest for 5-15 minutes then roll to two sheets
  • Place 1 sheet on a greased baking pan, place filling, then top again with the other sheet. Poke holes with fork.
  • Bake at 350 for 45-60 minutes

I like it served warm with a glass of cold milk, full fat, sooo good!
