My husband loves these cookies very much. This is a family recipe, taught by our mother. We’ve been making these cookies for years already (for Idul Fitri). They are called Nastar cookies, and usually filled with pineapple jam.
Double the ingredients for more cookies!
1 yolk from a large egg
150 gram salted margarine
150 gram icing sugar
250 gram all purpose flour
1 tablespoon water
1/2 teaspoon vanilla sugar
1 tablespoon corn starch
Apricot jam as needed
Mix yolk, margarine, icing sugar using a medium speed of a mixer until the mixture is soft and well blended. Turn off the mixer.
Add in water, flour, corn starch and vanilla sugar. Mix well using wooden spoon or washed hand
Spoon batter and make balls, flattened the balls, place 1/2 teaspoon
of apricot jam in the middle and form the whole ball as before.
Brush top of each balls with white egg.
Bake in 350 F for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown, but do not over bake it.
