Majority Indonesians, when they barbecue or grill chicken, normally would be done ontop of ember of charcoal. Some do use oven, but it was not common growing up. Now that I live in Canada, in an apartment, it is not easy to cook over charcoal, esp. when one does not live with backyard, balcony, or outdoor living space. Cooking method that creates much smoke would trigger the smoke alarm hahah
So for the following chicken dish, I used oven instead 😀

3-4 chicken breasts, boned and skinned
1/4 hot water
1 1/2 cm of Indonesian Instant Peanut Salad dressing (I used KARANGSARI)
1/4 tsp of Hungarian Vegeta seasoning
1 tbsp of sweet soya sauce (I used Indonesian ABC)
slices of lime
- Wash clean the chicken breasts and using bamboo skewers, make holes all over the chicken.
- Marinade the chicken with peanut dressing (already mixed with hot water) and vegeta seasoning for 15 minutes
- Bake chicken with the mixed dressing for 1 hour in 375 C. Once awhile turn the chicken over. 15 minutes before turning off the oven, spread soya sauce all over the chicken breasts.
- Place baked chicken on a serving plate and sprinkle with lime juice
- Serves with warm rice and other side dishes
