Beef and Sauerkraut Stew

Ingredients

  • 1.5 kg Beef cubes
  • 1 tsp Fennel seeds
  • 1 tbsp Chicken bouillon powder
  • 1 tsp Sweet paprika powder
  • 1/2 c Flour
  • Peanut oil or vegetable oil
  • 5 Garlic
  • 1/2 large Onion
  • 1 jar sauerkraut
  • 1 L beef broth
  • 1 tsp sweet paprika powder
  • 2 beef cubes
  • 1 tsp fennel seeds
  • 1 c water
  • Dill fresh would be best
  • Water
  • Chicken bouillon powder
  • Sweet paprika powder
  • Flour
  • Sour cream
  • Sourdough bread

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, mix beef cubes, flour, bouillon powder, sweet paprika powder, and fennel seeds. Fry to brown in enough peanut oil
  • Meanwhile, strain and rise a jar of sauerkraut, set aside. Slice thinly garlic and onion, set to side.
  • Take out beef from oil, set to side, and saute garlic and onion using the same grease in the pan. Stir in fennel and sweet paprika powder, followed with browned beef, sauerkraut, water, broth, and beef cubes, bring to boil.
  • Add in dill, to taste
  • Meanwhile, mix enough flour, 1/2 tsp each sweet paprika powder and chicken bouillon powder in enough water, for thickening the stew. Pour this mixture into the pan once beef is tender, stir to combine well
  • Serve stew with a dollop of sour cream and sourdough or French bread
