Sourdough Pretzels Knots (Hungarian Style)

Ingredients

  • 1 c sourdough starter
  • 3 c bread flour
  • 4 tsp sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 c milk rice, oat, nut or regular is fine
  • 2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/4 - 1/2 c lukewarm water

Salt Paste

  • 1/4 c bread flour
  • 1/2 tbsp salt
  • 2 tbsp hot water more or less

Instructions

  • Heat milk to lukewarm, sprinkle with yeast, let stand til bloom
  • In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt
  • Pour in sourdough starter, bloomed yeast, oil and water
  • Knead, let rest for an H
  • Divide into portions, roll into rope and shape into pretzels
  • Bake on preheated 350 F for 20-30 mins
  • Take out and spoon the salt paste, bake for another 5 mins
