Mie Goreng

chicken chow mein


  • 1 bag of chow mein
  • 2 eggs
  • 600 g skinless boneless chicken breasts
  • 250 g bean sprouts
  • 100 g julienned carrots
  • 3 tbsp grape seed oil
  • 1/2 tbsp minced garlic
  • Oyster sauce to taste (2-3 tbsp at least)
  • Hoisin sauce to taste (2-3 tbsp at least)
  • Sesame oil to taste (1-2 tsp)
  • Vegeta powder to taste (1 heaping tbsp at least)
  • Ground white pepper optional
  • 1 handful chives
  • Fried onion for serving


  • Slice chicken into strips
  • Rinse chow mein in hot water, drain
  • Heat oil, saute garlic
  • Scramble eggs, set to side on the pan
  • Add in chicken and cook until white-ish
  • Set chicken to side on the pan
  • Add in carrots, cook until chicken totally white and carrots somewhat soften
  • Add in chow mein, mix
  • Add in bean sprouts, mix
  • Season with oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, Vegeta and white pepper powder
  • Adjust flavoring to your liking
  • Mix in chives
  • Serve immediately topped with fried onion
