Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Bread


  • 1 c canned pumpkin puree
  • 1/2 c butter/margarine room temperature for butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 c sugar

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 c flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp cinnamon powder
  • 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice if not allspice works too!


  • 1/2 c mini chocolate chip either milk or dark
  • 1/2 c chopped walnut


  • 1/2 c icing sugar
  • 2-3 tsp milk/half and half/heavy cream/eggnog


  • In a bowl, mix dry ingredients , set aside
  • In a separate bowl, mix chocolate chips and chopped walnut, set aside
  • In another bowl, using a wire whisk, combine egg, sugar, margarine and pumpkin
  • Stir in dry ingredients followed with chocolate chip and walnut mixture
  • Spread batter evenly on a greased loaf pan and baked at preheated 350 F for 55 minutes (until knife inserted in center comes out clean)
  • Cool inside the pan for 10 mins, take out of pan and cool completely on rack (for about 2 h), before glazing
  • Mix icing sugar and milk, stir and drizzle on cooled bread
  • Let icing harden for 30 mins then slice
