Cappuccino Creme Brulee


  • 3/4 c sugar
  • 1 c half and half
  • 1/2 tbsp instant coffee granules
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • 1 egg
  • 3 yolks
  • 1 1/2 oz bittersweet chocolate chips or bittersweet baking chocolate


  • Heat oven to 350 F
  • Place oven proof bowls/ramekins into a baking pan/roasting pan, fill up the pan with hot water halfway up sides of the bowls/ramekins
  • Place all ingredients into a bowl, mix with wire whisk until combined well, then pour into bowls
  • Bake for 30-35 mins or just until set. Take out from oven, place bowls onto cooling rack and let cool for half hour
  • Meanwhile, melt chips on microwave at 30 seconds interval each time
  • Spoon melted chocolate on top of custard. Cover and chill for an hour
