steamed buns with beef taco filling

Ingredients

Skin

  • 400 g flour
  • 1 tbsp active dry yeast
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • salt to taste
  • 1 cup lukewarm water + a little more less than 1/4 c
  • 2 tbsp oil

Filling

  • 200-300 grams ground beef
  • Hungarian Vegeta seasoning or any other seasoning such as Royco powder
  • 1 envelope taco seasoning

  • green onion, sliced

Instructions

Skin

  • Mix dry ingredients, make a well in the center, pour in water+oil, knead well (3-5 minutes).
  • Cover with damp towel let stand for at least 30 minutes or doubled in size.
  • Punch down dough, make a log, then slice into 8-11 portions.

Filling

  • Prepare taco beef as instructed on the envelope of taco seasoning, set aside to cool

Steamed Buns

  • Flat each portion either using your hand or rolling pin, place 1 heaping tbsp of taco beef, 1 tsp sliced green onion, pinch seam to seal.
  • To make bunny buns, make two incision on the top, creating a V shape, while for the hedgehog, basically you just kinda make a cut here and there without cutting through the buns :)
  • Steam filled buns for 15 minutes at least or until well cooked.
  • Serve with your favorite sauce!
