Hungarian buns


  • 540 g flour
  • 300 ml milk
  • 30 g fresh yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 tsps salt
  • 1 egg


  • warm milk to lukewarm, add in sugar, and dissolve yeast, let stand 5-10 mins until rising
  • mix dry ingredients, make a well, add in egg and pour in yeast mixture, knead well
  • let rest, covered, for an hour/doubled in size
  • roll if youd like to make buns/zsemle, and cut with round cookie cutter
  • to make kifli, slice into quarters and roll as croissant
  • and the rest of the dough I just braided it with banana filling
  • bake in preheated 350 f for 20 mins/browning
