Orange Beef


  • 600 g beef slice into thin strips
  • 2 egg whites
  • 2-3 tbsp of cornstarch
  • enough oil for frying
  • salt


  • dried orange skin from 1 orange chopped/sliced (or you can use fresh orange skins, grated)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • 1/2 tbsp thick beef broth + 1/2 tbsp water
  • 2 tbsp light soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp corn starch
  • a dash of salt and white ground pepper
  • 1 small onion slice


  • Beat egg whites and pour into beef, mix
  • Sprinkle cornstarch, mix well
  • Heat oil to really hot and fry beef for 1-2 (until brown), drain
  • Mix sugar, vinegar, beef broth, water, soy sauce, cornstarch, salt and white pepper until cornstarch dissolved
  • Heat a little oil in nonstick pan, add in sliced onion and orange skins, stir
  • Add in beef and mixture of cornstarch, keep stirring as everything will be sticky. Cook for 5 minutes longer, serve.
