Chicken Tikka


  • 8 chicken thighs
  • 200 ml plain yogurt
  • 2 tsps paprika powder
  • 2 tsps lemon juice
  • 2 tsps grated ginger
  • 2 tsps garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp minced garlic store bought
  • red food coloring optional, as needed (gives the dish its traditional bright color)


  • Mix yogurt and the rest of the ingredients well; marinate chicken thighs and place in the fridge for 4 hours at least (best is overnight)
  • Preheat oven to 400 F
  • Remove chicken using a slotted spoon and place in a baking dish; bake for 40 minutes or until tender.
  • Basting with leftover marinade once awhile while cooking.
  • Serve with jasmine rice.
