Hungarian Bell Pepper Stew


  • paprikas sweet or hot depending your liking; as much as you wish
  • 8-12 to matoes peel skin quartered; the amount is depending on how many paprikas you have
  • salt to taste
  • water as needed
  • oil as needed
  • 2-3 onions chopped


  • Remove seeds from paprikas, slice not too thin but also not too thick.
  • Heat oil, saute onion until translucent, add in sliced paprika; if your
  • paprika are fresh and crunchy, most likely you will need not water, but
  • otherwise, add a littler water so bottom won't burn; stir occasionally
  • and cook until paprikas are a little tender.
  • Add in salt, stir, followed with peeled, quartered tomatoes. Cook for 12-15 minutes further.
  • Serve with bread.



You can add cubed bacon or scrambled eggs into the lecso while still cooking, if you wish.
