Hot Cross Buns

Ingredients

  • 5 c flour
  • 8 tbsp sugar
  • 1 scant tbsp bread improver
  • 2 c lukewarm water
  • 1 1/2 tbsp active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 tbsp canola oil
  • 1 scant tsp cinnamon powder
  • Raisins
  • 1 beaten yolk
  • Milk

Instructions

  • Mix dry ingredients. Make well in the center
  • Dissolve yeast and let stand until foamy. Mix in salt and oil, stir. Pour into well
  • Knead dough well
  • Sprinkle cinnamon powder and raisins on last kneading
  • Coat bowl with oil. Let rest dough until doubled in size for half hour
  • Divide dough @100 g each
  • Let rest for another half hour
  • Brush top with mixture of yolk and milk
  • Bake at 350 f for 30 mins
  • To make the cross, its just the simplest one of icing sugr dissolved with water
