Molasses Bread


  • 4 1/4 c bread flour
  • 1 tbsp milk powder either full cream or skim is fine
  • 1/2 c molasses
  • 2 tbsp margarine/butter room temperature if butter
  • 1 tbsp active dry yeast
  • 1 3/4 c lukewarm water


  • Prove yeast in water for 5 minutes
  • Mix flour and milk powder, make a well in center, pour yeast and add in margarine and molasses, mix well
  • Pour batter into prepared pan (greased and floured) and let stand for an hour (batter will be doubled in size)
  • Preheat oven to 350 F and bake bread for 25-30 minutes


if you'd like to make it as a loaf, while mixing ingredients, add 1 tbsp flour at a time until dough is form, then place into a loaf pan
