Hungarian apple parcels

Ingredients

  • 300 ml milk
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 16 g active dry yeast
  • 500 g strong bakers flour
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • A pinch of coarse kosher salt
  • 2 yolks
  • 50 ml vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence

Filling

  • 6 apples
  • 1 tsp cinnamon powder
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp sugar

Instructions

  • Skin, core, and grate apples
  • Mix in cinnamon powder, sugar and lemon juice, set aside

Dough

  • Warm milk, sprinkle with sugar, and yeast. Let stand 5-8 mins
  • In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt
  • Pour in yeast, yolk, essence, and oil, knead
  • Let rest for an H
  • Roll flat, slice into squares
  • Place fillin in center
  • Pull from each side shaping into parcel
  • Brush parcels with apple juice from the bowl
  • Bake parcels on preheated 350 F until golden brown
  • Serve sprinkled with icing sugar
